The Public Works office is responsible for providing and maintaining water to the citizens of Tye. The City of Tye purchases its water from the City of Abilene. Water rates are based on the cost to purchase the water, and to maintain the water mains and meters. Department workers ensure the quality of water is maintained by testing for different contaminants, daily, weekly and monthly. Workers repair leaks, replace water lines as needed, and read meters.
In order to provide and maintain this service, the City of Tye has adopted the following rates, sorted by Residential and Commercial:
Residential
- 0 - 6,000 gallons, $7.87 per 1,000 gallons used
- 6,001 - 14,000 gallons, $8.16 per 1,000 gallons used
- 14,001 gallons or more, $8.45 per 1,000 gallons used
Commercial
- Usage amounts is the same as residential
Meters are read on the 17th of each month. Bills are mailed out on the 25th of each month. To avoid a 10% late fee, bills must be paid by the 10th of each month. All bills must be paid in full prior to 08:00am on the 21st of each month to avoid service termination and a $50.00 reconnection fee.
The Public Works office is not responsible for water lines that run from the residence to the meter. For more information, please contact us at 325-692-8588.
